Philadelphia – October 1, 2007 – Hx Technologies, Inc. (HxTI), a leading provider of diagnostic imaging management services and health information exchanges, today announced that former Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Tommy Thompson has been appointed to the company’s Board of Advisors.

As HHS Secretary, Mr. Thompson led the federal government’s efforts to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare through the innovative application of information technology. He was responsible for establishing the Office of the National Coordinator for Healthcare Information Technology (ONC) to promote the widespread adoption of health information exchanges and interoperable electronic health records. More broadly, he headed the largest non-military agency of the federal government with authority over several agencies including the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). Prior to his cabinet appointment, Mr. Thompson was the 4-term Republican Governor of Wisconsin and achieved national renown for his leadership on welfare reform, expanded access to health care for low-income individuals, and education. He was most recently a 2008 Republican presidential candidate.

“It is an incredible honor for Hx Technologies to have the advice and guidance of a former state governor and secretary of health whose name is synonymous with innovation and success in addressing the nation’s thorniest healthcare issues,” said Dr. Elliot Menschik, HxTI’s founder and president. “We look forward to his contributions as we continue our efforts to unscatter healthcare data and to enable the most timely and accurate diagnoses, the most effective interventions, and the least waste of resources by addressing head-on the fragmentation of patients’ health information across different providers and facilities.”
