Dr. Reinhardt is recognized as one of the nation’s leading authorities on healthcare economics. He is the James Madison Professor of Political Economy and Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School of Princeton University. He writes and lectures extensively to provide the industry, policy makers and the public with critical insights into the complexities of the US healthcare system, an appreciation for key trends, comparisons with international health systems, and the likely impact of proposed reforms in the US.
Dr. Reinhardt has been member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences since 1978. He is a past president of the Association of Health Services Research and has served as a commissioner on the Physician Payment Review Committee established in 1986 by Congress to advise it on issues related to the payment of physicians. He is a trustee of Duke University and the Duke University Health System. Dr. Reinhardt is a frequent contributor to the editorial pages of the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post. He has served on numerous editorial boards, among them the Journal of Health Economics, the Milbank Memorial Quarterly, Health Affairs, the New England Journal of Medicine, and the Journal of the American Medical Association.
