Philadelphia, PA -- January 31, 2006 -- Hx Technologies, Inc. (HxTI), a leading provider of health information exchanges, today announced that it had been awarded 15 gold stars at the 2006 IHE North America Connectathon, a weeklong interoperability testing event held January 16-20, 2006 in Oak Brook, IL. The annual event is the centerpiece of the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) initiative, the healthcare IT industry’s premier effort to ensure seamless data interchange between medical information systems installed within or between medical facilities. The 2006 IHE North America Connectathon included participants from 60 companies and was sponsored by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the American College of Cardiology (ACC).
Embraced by nearly all major healthcare IT vendors, IHE harnesses existing healthcare and IT standards into technical recipes to ensure that each company’s products can "talk" to one another seamlessly to support patients that move between physician offices, hospital departments, and even unaffiliated medical facilities. Each year, competing vendors collaborate to develop new such "integration profiles," implement these recipes in new versions of their products, and convene at the Connectathon in an intense simulation of real-world connectivity to test and prove their interoperability with their peers. During this year‘ event, HxTI’s iHistory® platform for building health information exchanges passed a total of 63 monitored interoperability tests across fifteen categories with 24 different vendors, receiving a gold star in every category in which it participated.
"HxTI’s ability to seamlessly transmit healthcare data and provide the core infrastructure for regional and national health information exchanges was a highlight of the 2006 IHE Connectathon," said Dr. Elliot Menschik, chief executive of Hx Technologies. "Our broad and successful participation in providing the necessary components for cross-enterprise exchange of health information reflects our commitment to developing open systems and services, based on existing and emerging industry standards, that support patient portability across care providers, enabling their medical information to travel securely and seamlessly with them wherever they may seek care. We look forward to demonstrating our capabilities at the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase in San Diego and introducing our open standards-based interoperability to real-world health information exchanges."
HxTI will be sponsoring and participating in IHE’s Interoperability Showcase at the HIMSS 2006 Conference, held February 12-16, 2006 in San Diego. The Showcase will feature those cutting-edge products that have proven their ability to use IHE’s prescribed open standards to exchange a wide spectrum of healthcare information including laboratory results, radiology images, medical summaries and cardiology reports. HIMSS 2006 attendees will be able to create and manage their own virtual health record and access it across multiple healthcare settings. Interested attendees are invited to visit HxTI at the Interoperability Showcase on the main exhibit floor.
